Pushing deeper into hybrid audio design, I started building my own analog mixer — but with features that go beyond traditional studio gear. This project combines high-fidelity analog mixing, full 4-band parametric EQ per channel, flexible aux routing, and a modern layer of digital + modular integration through OSC and Eurorack-compatible control voltages.
Project Concept
Mixers rarely bridge the gap between studio, performance, and modular synthesis environments.
My idea:
✅ Pure analog audio path
✅ Digital + CV control over mixer parameters
✅ Expandable routing for creative workflows
✅ EQ tuned for musical shaping — not surgical cutting
This creates a console that is just as comfortable on a desk as it is inside a Eurorack ecosystem or a network-based OSC performance setup.
4-Band Fully Parametric EQ
Each channel features a 4-band EQ designed from discrete op-amp filter stages.
All four bands include:
- Gain control (boost/cut)
- ** Frequency sweep**
- Variable Q bandwidth
The result: extremely smooth tone-shaping with zero digital artifacts — perfect for warming up synths, drums, guitars, and vocals.
Band ranges are divided as:
- Low: 20 Hz – 300 Hz
- Low-Mid: 200 Hz – 1.5 kHz
- High-Mid: 1 kHz – 6 kHz
- High: 4 kHz – 20 kHz
Customizable Aux Ports
Instead of locking the user into fixed sends, the board includes assignable AUX buses:
- Pre / post fader toggles
- Switchable destinations
- Option to connect to analog effects, Eurorack modules, or spatial processors
You can build your own routing logic — the mixer adapts to the setup, not the other way around.
OSC & Eurorack Integration
This is where the design becomes futuristic:
🎛️ Motor-ready digital pots / VCAs allow channels and EQ to be influenced by:
- OSC over Wi-Fi / Ethernet
- Eurorack CV inputs
- MIDI-mapped external controllers
That means you can:
- Automate analog EQ parameters from a DAW
- Use a modular envelope to modulate channel gain
- Control sends from a touchscreen interface
- Sync mixer gestures with live visuals
Everything stays analog in the audio path — the control layer sits above it like a performance brain.
High-Fidelity Analog Signal Path
To maintain transparency, the mixer uses:
- Premium op-amps optimized for low noise & distortion MUSE is the boss !
- Star-grounding
- Balanced outputs with high dynamic range
- Shielded routing for AUX and CV lines
Bandwidth extends well beyond the audible spectrum, ensuring phase-stable, punchy output in any genre.
Format & Expandability
- Powered from internal ±15 V rails
- Eurorack-compatible ±12 V control sections
- Modular backplane for channel count expansion
- Firmware-updatable OSC control layer
This design means the mixer can grow over time — more channels, more sends, more control options.
